AirVenture Webcams. Technology, isn't it great!

If you cant make it to AirVenture or just want to see whats happening. Don't forget the webcams.

From the EAA:

Watch some of the action from AirVenture with our on-site webcams, provided by Discovery World.

Some of these cameras run on pre-programmed direction and show live feeds from the grounds, and some cameras (like the Air Show camera) may display live video of the daily air show as viewed through the lens of EAA's video production team. This is not a television-quality broadcast of the event, just a chance to share their view. There will be times when the videographer is moving the camera, reviewing existing footage, etc., where you may not see the show itself. This is to be expected. Also, for the Theater in the Woods feed, this camera displays live video from evening programming. Due to contractual and other obligations, there are certain events that can not be broadcast.

About Trace Arnold:
Trace Arnold is the quintessential Texas cowboy. He grew up on a dude ranch in Justin, Texas and has spent the last 25 years mastering his pitmaster skills by preparing BBQ and smoked meats for corporate events and private parties. In 1997 he created The Ultimate Smoker & Grill, an 80-foot mobile machine that can slow smoke more than 2,000 lbs of meat, 1,000 hot dogs, 500 hamburgers or 200 steaks at one time. AirVenture visitors can fly formation with the Aerostars aerobatic team in Redbird’s custom-built Yak-52 simulator—and maybe the real airplane

Oshkosh, WI (July 24, 2013) – It takes years of practice to earn a spot in the daily airshow over Oshkosh, but this season visitors can experience formation flying for themselves using a Redbird MX2 simulator at AirVenture. This custom-built simulator replicates a Yakolev 52TW, the 450-horsepower, tailwheel version of the fully aerobatic Russian military trainer flown by the Aerostars. Visitors can just try on the Yak for fun, or experience what it’s like to fly formation in the Aerostars flight challenge.

The challenge starts on the runway at Oshkosh in the front seat of the Yak-52 belonging to Aerostars Right Wing Dave Monroe. Just ahead and to the left is the Yak-52 of Lead Pilot Harvey Meek. After takeoff, the visitor must hold position on Harvey’s right wing, while Dave supplies helpful hints as if he was riding along in the back seat. Completing the entire challenge requires holding position through several tight turns and landing back at Whitman Regional airport (Oshkosh).

Sennheiser Aviation has sweetened the deal even more: Everyone completing the challenge in the Yak-52 simulator is automatically entered into a drawing. Two winners, selected at random, will receive top-of-the-line Sennheiser PC350 gaming headsets. One grand-prize winner earns a flight in the real airplane.

In addition to the full-motion experience of the Yak-52 cockpit at the Redbird tent, the challenge can be practiced on any Redbird Jay desktop simulator. These are located at the AOPA tent (#195), the Redbird Flight Simulations tent (#208), or the Aerostars trailer right off Phillips 66 Square.

Team Aerostar will be available in person at the Redbird tent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 1–2 p.m. The prize drawing will be at the Redbird tent on Saturday, August 3 at 2 p.m.

I like watches....Scheyden to Debut True Aviator Watch Line at 2013 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh

Scheyden to Debut True Aviator Watch Line at 2013 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh

Pilot's Dream Watch Showcased at Booth #2019

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Scheyden – the market leader for precision eyewear and flight crew luggage engineered for aviation and other active pursuits – announces the launch of its True Aviator watch series with the introduction of its first model, Steam Gauge, at 2013 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh (July 29-August 4, Booth #2019).

Designed to serve as a functional piece of equipment for pilots in the cockpit, the True Aviator Steam Gauge (standard price $2,992) is the only timepiece to offer an Aide Memoire Bi-Directional ATIS Bezel as a paperless reminder of the Automated Terminal Information Service (ATIS) recordings. The lower gauge is a multi-feature digital IFR timer that can be used for timing instrument procedures or assisting with timed checklist items. The upper gauge features a Liquid Filled Magnetic Compass that provides awareness on the ground whether traveling to an unfamiliar city or an unimproved backcountry airstrip.

“Pilots immediately know what’s going on here when they see the new Scheyden watch,” says Jeff Herold, company founder and an instrument-rated pilot. “I designed a watch that had components that I knew would be functional to a ‘True Aviator’ at a fraction of the price of other aviation watches on the market. We couldn’t think of a more fitting place than EAA AirVenture, with its passionate aviation crowd, to introduce the first ever ‘True Aviator’ watches.”

Positioned in the watch’s main gauge, protected by the highest-quality Sapphire Crystal is an exceptional Swiss ISA Movement. This digital analog movement also affords wearers the ability to create any second Time Zone, with most pilots likely to choose Zulu (GMT/ UTC) time as their secondary choice. Other features on the True Aviator are: Chronograph, alarm, count down timer, water-resistance, white Super Luminova glowing digits and Global Airport Identifiers.

Each timepiece comes with engraved airport identifiers and a serial number on the watch back. The heavy-duty tri-folding locking wristband showcases a Wing Root design component, delivering levels of both style and performance demanded by pilots and watch enthusiasts alike. Herold adds: “This watch is not only functional it is a conversation piece that will be cherished by its owners.”

A pilot's dream watch, the Scheyden True Aviator (Steam Gauge model) is available in Brushed Stainless Steel, Stealth Black or Swiss Gold – all ion plated to increase durability. It is worn by Team Scheyden member and star air show pilot Super Dave” Mathieson, who also relies on the Scheyden Fixed Hybrid Jet-A glasses while flying his customized Scheyden MX2 plane. He has christened one of his daring air show maneuvers the “Scheyden Precision Point Roll Pass” because it requires exact timing and a master’s touch to execute properly, aligning with the brand’s “Demand Precision” slogan.

Out of a limited selection of the initial release, one True Aviator will be donated to the EAA AirVenture Gathering of the Eagles Gala on Thursday, August 1. The auction at the annual event raises money to benefit thousands of future aviators.

Second Annual “Engine Day” By Zenith, at Oshkosh

Note: this Press Release is also available for your use at

Second Annual “Engine Day” By Zenith, at Oshkosh
Powerplant Festival to Exhibit on Thursday
In 2012, Zenith hosted its first “Engine Day” at Oshkosh, with a handful of different powerplants and their representatives on hand. “We didn’t know what the response would be,” said Heintz, “and frankly we were blown away by the response. This year, all of last year’s exhibitors are returning, and we’re adding Continental and ECi, plus maybe a surprise or two.” This year, hours will be doubled. “A lot of people couldn’t make it in the morning last year,” said Heintz, “so we’re going on until 2p.m.”

So, on Thursday, August 1, at the Zenith exhibit at Airventure Oshkosh (space 641, in the North Aircraft Display area), Zenith Aircraft will again host “Engine Day,” where two-seat Zenith aircraft with all sorts of power will be on display, and where representatives of some of the most-popular engines, as well as some newcomers, will be helping builders decide what goes up front, between the prop and the rest of the airplane.

The Chris Heintz (CH-) Zenith designs have been built using everything from electric motors to small turbines, with two-strokes, four-strokes, and rotaries in between; many of these will be available, with their owners, as will some of the most-popular engine options and manufacturers, ranging from home-made and “factory” Corvair, VW, and Honda conversions, to industry-standard, purpose-built light aircraft engines – Rotax, Jabiru, UL Power (including their new six-cylinder engines), Continental, Lycoming, and more, from 65 to 150hp.

The Zenith designs have always been drawn with an eye to allowing alternate power sources. “Chris Heintz always kept the builder’s choice in mind, when designing owner-built aircraft,” Sebastien noted, with the result that “there are probably more different kinds and makes of aviation engines under Zenith cowls than any other. Plus,” he continued, “unlike some designers, Zenith Aircraft Company encourages builders to install the engine of their choice.” There are proven power systems always available, but the designs keep the door open to new ideas. Some work better than others, certainly, but the variety is astounding – “and it is a testimony to the versatility of both the designs and the builders that so many work, and so well.”
Zenith invites all to “Engine Day” at their exhibit in the North Aircraft Display Area # 641, specifically on Thursday, August 1, between 10a.m. and 2p.m., to meet the builders, engine representatives, and pilots of a great variety of Zenith machines, old and new.

When: Thursday, August 1, 2013, 10a.m. until 2p.m.
Where: Zenith Aircraft Company exhibit (Space 641, North Aircraft Display area)
Who: Builders, engine suppliers, pilots, prospects

Perhaps there is no more iconic symbol of the Viet Nam War than the venerable UH-1 Huey helicopter.  On Monday, July 29th, Tuesday, July 30th and Thursday, August 1st, Huey #354 will be available for rides from 9 AM until 4 PM at the Fond Du Lac County Airport, 260 S. Rolling Meadows Drive in Fond Du Lac.  Huey #354 is part of the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation and will also be appearing as part of the air show at AirVenture this year.

The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, known by all as the Huey, first flew in 1956 and was the first helicopter powered by a turbo shaft engine that controlled the two bladed main rotor as well as the tail rotor.  The UH-1 went into full production in 1960 and over 16,000 Huey’s were produced.  The first combat service for the Huey, in 1963, was in Viet Nam and the US Army utilized the Huey for troop transport, medical evacuation (MEDEVAC), search & rescue and all general utility roles.  Depending on the mission, the Huey could fly with a crew of up to 4.  The Huey is no doubt one of the world’s most recognized helicopters.

Huey #354 (N354AF) is one of 4 flyable UH-1’s owned by the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation.  #354 flew over 1,500 combat hours in Viet Nam and has been faithfully restored, by members of the foundation, in the exact markings that were on the aircraft when it served in Viet Nam.  The Huey was acquired from the Georgia National Guard in 2008.

“Folks love to fly with the veterans and aircraft that made history and that’s why we enjoy making #354 available for rides as often as possible” said Rick Welch, Director of the Foundation.  The price per rider is $60.00 and the minimum age requirement is 5 years old.  Reservations are not necessary during this rare 3 day opportunity, but all flights are flown on a first come, first serve basis.

A quote

A quote from the Law of Attraction newsletter I get from Kristen Howe..

Life works in strange ways. Joseph Epstein once said, "We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents, or the country of birth. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time and conditions of our death. But within this realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we live."

Law of attraction or ....

People often wonder why they are not “getting what they want” with the law of attraction.  Often they say “I tell myself I’ll get money or material things but it doesn’t happen”. But I believe it is more than just saying the words. Its automatic behaviors, thoughts and a deep down set in belief system.  Something that you don’t even think about, you just feel it.

I get regular emails from Street Hypnosis (Clifford Mee and Igor Ledochowski) and I think this most recent one plays right into the “Law of Attraction”.
Mee wrote:

When your unconscious mind is fully "in-sync" with your conscious desires it can seem like miracles are happening all around you.

When both parts of your mind (the conscious AND the UNCONSCIOUS) are "walking lock-step" it can seem like opportunities and the right situations are finding their way to you.

Happiness finds you all by itself.

Joyful, alive feelings flow through you.

Your days seem to unfold perfectly.

The right people seem to appear at the right time.

Work gets done effortlessly without any sense of doer-ship.

Opportunities drop in your lap.

There is hardly any stress at all.

There is never any sense of being in the wrong place.

Because your unconscious mind is moving you to do the right things at the right time.

And because your unconscious is "in sync" with your conscious desires you automatically start moving in the direction of (and achieving) those desires faster and more smoothly than you've ever been able to before.

I could not have said it better.
