Sport fishing <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Q. I like to spend time offshore fishing and I am considering an
investment in a sport fishing boat. Is there anything specific I should
look for?<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
A. There are really a number of
factors to take into account. First, you
need to decide on your plan for using the boat.
If you are truly dedicated to using it as just an off shore fishing
boat, then the design will need to target just fishing. In reality, I do not think you will find many
of these “just fishing” boats used by recreational boaters. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
If you look at the available sport fishing boats on the market, I think
you will find that a large percentage of the offshore fishing boat designs are
more than just fishing boats. Most of
today’s sport-fishing boats have become weekend and vacation getaways. A few of the larger ones are even long term
live aboard vessels. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoBodyText">
If you are serious about using the boat as a fishing boat,
you will want to look at the size and layout of the fishing area. You will definitely want a roomy section of
the cockpit that has accessible bait wells and storage areas for the catch of
the day. In addition, most sport fishing
boats need a decent fighting chair. That
means you will need a spacious enough area to accommodate the chair, the crew
and the cheer squad for that record catch.
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The next major question you need to ask yourself is what type of waters
you plan to spend most of your time in.
If you live and plan to use the boat in the Northern waters (East or
West), you will want to shop for a boat that has the ability to handle rougher
waters and colder temperatures. Being
cold and wet on a boat with nowhere to warm up will reduce your
enthusiasm. A boat that is too small for
your water can make the trip uncomfortable to only the hardiest of the fishing
crowd. Do not buy a boat that you
“think” will be big enough. Test your
planned purchase on similar water before you spend the money. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
With that in mind, the location and use will also determine a few of the
amenities you opt for. To extend the
fishing (or any use) in the Northern areas, the cabin should offer heat for
that cold weather warm up. If the boat
is to be in the southern waters where the temperatures can be rather high, the
cabin needs to be air-conditioned. Many
of today’s owners move their boat back and forth so they should be equipped for
both climates. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
That choice will come down to the location it
is used, the fishing area of the cockpit, the passenger comfort and finally the
personal styling preferences. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 9.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH,
Wisconsin — (June 5, 2017) — The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) today
joined other general aviation groups in opposing the measures outlined by the
White House for reform of the nation’s air traffic control system, telling the
administration that dismantling the current system will devastate GA while not
accomplishing the desired goals of efficiency and technological improvements.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 9.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">A <span style="color: #1f497d;"><a href="https://www.eaa.org/~/media/files/news/ga%20ltr%20060517_logos_final%20pdf.pdf">letter
to President Trump</a></span> opposing the “Principles for Reforming the U.S.
Air Traffic Control System” was signed by EAA and 15 other general aviation
organizations. The letter states the groups’ “very real and long-standing
concerns, which include but are not limited to user fees. These concerns are
based on our operating experiences in these foreign systems and impact they
have had on general aviation.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 9.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">The White House principles statement
supports removing air traffic operations from Federal Aviation Administration
control and giving them to a new, non-profit entity that would be exempt from
congressional oversight. In addition, the principles statement advocates for
ending fuel excise taxes and creates a system that would make it
self-sufficient through the collection of user fees to cover both the costs of
operation and recapitalization expenses. The statement also specifically bars
review or relief by Congress or the courts regarding any user fees that might
be imposed by the ATC corporation. EAA has long been opposed to user fees for
general aviation.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 9.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">“The White House principles make a
gross misrepresentation that the air traffic control system is broken, but the
facts don’t support the claim,” said Jack J. Pelton, EAA CEO/Chairman. “This
proposal is a solution in search of a problem. EAA supports modernization of
the American airspace system, and progress is happening with the input of all
the system’s stakeholders. This new plan would do nothing to solve any current
technology or efficiency issues, while undermining the world’s most extensive
general aviation system and disrupting the world’s largest and safest air
traffic control system. It is a bad idea, and EAA will continue to state that
to those in aviation, Congress, and the public.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 9.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">The GA group letter notes that the
U.S. air traffic control system is the best in the world, moving more aircraft,
more safely and efficiently, than any other country. Working with Congress,
aviation stakeholders have been able to ensure that the ATC system operates for
the public benefit, providing access for all stakeholders to airports,
heliports and airspace, and encouraging competition and innovation. The letter
also asks for ample opportunity for all stakeholders and citizens to carefully
review, analyze and debate any proposed legislation changing the governance and
funding for air traffic control.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 9.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Many of the White House principles are
based on the Aviation Innovation, Reform, and Reauthorization (AIRR) Act that
was shelved by the full House of Representatives and never taken up in the
Senate last year. In April, EAA board member </span><a href="https://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/eaa-news-and-aviation-news/news/05-17-2017-eaa-board-member-to-house-committee-atc-privatization-proposal-deeply-troubling"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Joe Brown testified</span></a><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"> to the House Transportation and

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin —
(May 12, 2017) — For the 10th straight year, the opportunity for women who love
aviation to build camaraderie and open doors to mentorship and participation
once again comes to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017, as WomenVenture activities
will take place during the week.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">The 65th annual Experimental Aircraft
Association (EAA) fly-in convention will be held July 24-30 at Wittman Regional

<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">Beginning in 2008, WomenVenture has offered
the opportunity to bring together women aviators from throughout the flying
community. The activities are designed to encourage participation by women in
aviation, as less than six percent of all pilots in the U.S. are female.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">“WomenVenture is a tremendous experience for
women, particularly as it comes during the World’s Greatest Aviation
Celebration at Oshkosh,” said Kelly Nelson, a pilot and executive editor for
EAA publications. “These activities can be a springboard to motivate other
women to get involved in aviation, either for fun or as a future career, as
we’ll present activities that motivate, inform, and inspire.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Wrinkles do not mean wrecked. But they do typically indicate previous damage or
stress. I'd guess the aircraft has had a few hard landings or even a few ground
loops. Make sure the mechanic looks for the FAA "Form 337, Major Alteration and Repair" in the aircraft records. You can also order (through the FAA or other search
companies) a copy of the FAA 337 Forms for a specific “N” number aircraft.
This report will show you any Form 337’s that have been filed with the
FAA on that particular aircraft. If that
doesn't show any damage all you have is visual information. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Whatever
the result, the mechanic should inspect the gear attach points for un-repaired
damage. Landing gear on any aircraft
gets a lot of stress. Custom built
aircraft are notorious for landing gear damage, along with training aircraft. It doesn’t matter if it is a conventional
gear (tail wheel) aircraft or a tri-gear aircraft. New pilots have a tendency to make hard
landings and newly completed custom aircraft take a while to become accustom
to. Don’t be surprised, just make sure
the aircraft is inspected carefully. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (April 27, 2017) — EAA AirVenture has a
strong tradition of honoring America’s veterans, and this year is no exception.
Old Glory Honor Flight, partnered with EAA and American Airlines, is bringing
Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight V to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017. This flight will
take place on Friday, July 28. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">Yellow
Ribbon Honor Flight is coming back for the fifth time to EAA AirVenture and is
dedicated to recognizing Vietnam veterans and the sacrifices they made to serve
our country. Old Glory Honor Flight believes, “It’s never too late to say thank
you.” The veterans will fly to Washington, D.C. to tour war memorials at no
cost to them. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

will hold a welcome ceremony upon the return of the flight, which is part of
the day’s Salute to Veterans. Earlier on Friday there will be the annual Parade
of Veterans, where all veterans in attendance are invited to assemble and walk
with their respective branches of service.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Glory Honor Flight originally intended the Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight to be a
one-time event in 2013, but the success of the first flight at EAA AirVenture
encouraged subsequent yearly flights. “Yellow Ribbon Honor Flights out of EAA
AirVenture have become a tradition for us and we are very excited to continue
that tradition in 2017,” said Old Glory Honor Flight Co-Founder Diane

75th anniversary commemoration and air show activities at </span><a href="https://www.eaa.org/en/airventure"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">EAA AirVenture

at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The 65th annual Experimental
Aircraft Association fly-in convention, the “World’s Greatest Aviation
Celebration,” will be held July 24-30.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">The 75th anniversary activities will honor
those involved in the daring mission that involved 16 B-25 bombers that
departed from the aircraft carrier <i>USS Hornet</i> on April 18, 1942, and
bombed military sites in Japan. The “Doolittle Raiders,” led by legendary pilot
Jimmy Doolittle, then faced hardships after their airplanes made forced
landings in China and other areas.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">“The Doolittle Raid 75 years ago was
important, not as much for its military gains as it was a morale lift to an
American military and public that had been buffeted by bad news in the months
immediately following the attack on Pearl Harbor,” said Rick Larsen, EAA’s vice
president of communities and member benefits who coordinates AirVenture
features and attractions. “Our activities at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this year
will connect our attendees with the importance of this mission, as well as the
people and aircraft involved.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">Among the highlights of the 75th anniversary
commemoration will be a July 26 evening program with 101-year-old Dick Cole,
the only remaining member of the 80 original Doolittle Raiders, as well as
Jimmy Doolittle’s grandchildren, Jimmy Doolittle III and Jonna Doolittle
Hoppes.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">“I want to thank EAA for honoring the Raiders
at their 75th anniversary,” said Cole, who was co-pilot for Doolittle in the
lead aircraft. “Thank you for paying tribute to us even though we never felt
like heroes. We were just doing our job. We can also never forget the men who
fought at Wake, Midway, and all across the Pacific. See you at Oshkosh.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin —
(March 24, 2017) — A newly restored B-29 has included </span><a href="https://www.eaa.org/en/airventure"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">EAA AirVenture
Oshkosh</span></a><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">
2017 on its inaugural tour schedule, creating the potential to have two of
these World War II-era bombers in one place for the first time in more than 50
years.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">The B-29 <i>Doc</i>, which has just completed
its restoration in Wichita, Kansas, will be on tour this spring and summer. Its
appearance at EAA AirVenture on July 24-30, fulfills a long commitment to bring
the airplane to the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration when its restoration
was complete.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">Doc</span></i><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;"> was
built in 1945 and for many years was part of a squadron known as the Seven
Dwarfs (hence, the name <i>Doc</i>). The airplane was retired in 1956 as the
jet bomber age began and sat as a target for U.S. Navy training missions in
China Lake, California, until 1998. A restoration group took possession of the
airplane from the U.S. government and hauled it back to Wichita in pieces in
2000. After many years of volunteer restoration efforts, the restoration group </span><a href="http://www.b-29doc.com/"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">Doc’s Friends</span></a><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;"> formed in 2013 to
supply the financial resources needed to complete the restoration. <i>Doc</i>
made its first flight after restoration in July 2016, 60 years after it had
been retired.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background: white; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">“This will be a historic
year for our airplane and to say we’re excited about our plans to tour in 2017
is an understatement,” said Jim Murphy, manager for the Doc’s Friends
Restoration Program.</span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">It also sets the stage for a historic meeting
of the world’s only two flying B-29 bombers, as the Commemorative Air Force’s <i>FIFI</i>
is scheduled to return to Oshkosh in 2017. If this reunion occurs, it would
mark the first time two operational B-29 bombers would be in one place in more
than 50 years.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">“We’ve been eagerly awaiting the completion
of <i>Doc</i> for several years, and its restoration group has always
maintained that one of the airplane’s first appearances would be at Oshkosh,”
said Rick Larsen, EAA’s vice president of communities and member benefits who
coordinates AirVenture features and attractions. “This will be a huge moment
for EAA members and aviation enthusiasts to potentially see the world’s only
two flying B-29s in one place for the first time.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">The appearance of <i>Doc</i> keeps with the
tradition of bringing new and significant warbird aircraft restorations to EAA
AirVenture Oshkosh. The annual EAA fly-in convention is the world’s largest
annual gathering of warbird aircraft, with more than 350 of them annually flown
to Wittman Regional Airport to participate in the event.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Question.</b></span> </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I'm
considering either building a Murphy Moose, or buying a Cessna 185. I want it for flying in canoes and kayaks to
remote locations in North America (last trip was canoeing near the Arctic
Ocean). I'm not yet even a private pilot
(but will be by summer). I want a budget
planning estimate of what the operating cost of either of these aircraft are
going to cost me, equipped with amphibious floats, for a qualified pilot with
low hours. Can you do that?<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p><br /></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Answer</b></span>. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Sort
of. I consider the Murphy Moose and the
Cessna 185 to be pretty close in operational costs as far as fuel burn,
maintenance etc. A lot will depend on
the engine used in the Moose. Another
big difference will be that you will build the Moose and you can do the
maintenance if you have the repairman certificate. The Cessna 185 will need a shop and mechanic
to do the repairs. But the savings you
get in maintenance for the Moose will probably be made up in the insurance
premiums. Since it is an experimental
aircraft and since it will be on amphibious floats, insurance will be almost impossible
or at least very, very expensive. Not to say
the insurance for a low time pilot in a Cessna 185 will be that much lower, it
will still be expensive. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I’d
look into calculating the average cost to operate a Cessna 185 or maybe even
a 206. Contact me for a free sample cost of ownership Excel spread sheet. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I’d also contact a few owners and
see what they are saying. I have been
told that the Cessna 185 costs about $130 an hour to operate, not counting the
floats. It would be worth your while to
do a little research before you make a decision. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
It will also be necessary for you to build up a number of hours as a pilot AND
as a seaplane pilot. The chances for a
low time pilot (under 500 total time and 100 seaplane hours) of getting any
insurance will be very low. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
That
might also make the difference in which aircraft you get. If you build (or build) the aircraft without
having to borrow money, insurance might not be required.<br />
<br />
On a side note: Murphy Aircraft feels the Moose is probably closer in operation to a Dehaviland Beaver. Okay, I have to say, that's a selling point for the Moose right there. Who hasn't wanted a Dehaviland Beaver? I may be a Cessna fan but a round engine aircraft on Amphibs...<br />
<br />

<b><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">SUN
‘n FUN Evaluates Safety Protocol before Annual Fly-In <o:p></o:p></span></b></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">
<span style="font-family: "Times","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">(March 9, 2017 Lakeland,
FL) Thursday morning brought Lakeland’s finest to the SUN n FUN Expo Campus for
their annual Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan meeting ahead of the 43rd
annual SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In & Expo, which will be held April
4-9, 2017. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">
<span style="font-family: "Times","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Representatives from all
of Polk County’s emergency response teams attended the meeting, which included
an hour long mock drill. Jeff Wharton of the Lakeland Fire Department and Rick
Savage, representing Life Net 5, led the course and drill. All SUN ‘n FUN staff
members were required to attend the meeting and drill, and the 30-plus
participants followed a carefully prepared procedure that has been developed in
case of emergency during the fly-in. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">
<span style="font-family: "Times","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">The drill included a
site-wide power outage and simultaneously a patron who was involved in a hit
and run. The drill included Life Net 5 landing a helicopter on the campus to
retrieve an injured spectator, Lakeland Fire Department fire trucks, and
Lakeland Police Officers responding to the emergency in real time. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">
<span style="font-family: "Times","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">SUN ‘n FUN has always been
dedicated to the safety of every person who enters of their campus and strives
to improve safety regulations every year. John “Lites” Leenhouts, President and
CEO of SUN ‘n FUN, knows how important safety protocols are and makes sure his
staff is prepared for any emergency on the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">
<span style="font-family: "Times","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">“Safety doesn’t happen by
accident,” Leenhouts stated. “It’s the result of trained professionals acting
with good judgement and procedures that govern good operations in the air and
on the ground. Professionals don’t make mistakes.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">
<span style="font-family: "Times","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">The staff working during
the SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In & Expo utilizes many different
techniques to reach the public in the event of an emergency. Patrons are
encouraged to sign up for text message alerts, which will alert them to an
emergency on the campus. They can also utilize social media to see updates on
events in the area. New to the event this year, the campus will have jumbotrons
on the airfield to prepare fans for weather alerts and emergency situations.
The event will also include a siren on the campus for the first time. The siren
will blare when there is a severe weather alert, warning people to move to an
inside location on the campus. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">
<span style="font-family: "Times","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">Jeff Wharton believes
drills are a great way to prepare for an emergency.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">
<span style="font-family: "Times","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt;">“Safety is the main goal
for SUN ‘n FUN” Wharton said. “We want everyone to have a good time, but be
aware of their surroundings. There are things during the fly-in that are not
normal to an everyday theme park like airplanes, golf carts, four wheelers,
etc.” <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt; vertical-align: top;">

<div class="MsoPlainText">
<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><b><span style="font-size: large;">Answer</span></b><span style="font-size: 12pt;">. </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoPlainText">
<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">I
think it depends on the engine. Most
mechanics would probably agree that a high time engine would benefit from oil analysis. If you are
trying to extend the time between overhauls (TBO), oil analysis is a must. Flying your aircraft past TBO can save you a
few bucks in the near future but can (but not always) increase the actual cost
of the overhaul in the long term. It
could be one of those "pay me now or pay me more later"! Extended use might damage parts instead of
just wearing them down. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoPlainText">
<br /></div>

<div class="MsoPlainText">
<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">But oil
analysis and regular oil changes can help the owner monitor some of the
